Nicholas Hruschak
Biography
Captain Nicholas A. Hruschak is native to LaVergne, TN. He was enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 2010 as an Apache attack helicopter mechanic for approximately 4 years. He attended Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Eustis, VA, where he was the honor graduate of his class. Following graduation from AIT, he was assigned to 8-229th Attack Reconnaissance Battalion at Fort Knox, KY where he served as a helicopter mechanic, Apache crewchief, and as a section leader. He then joined the Simultaneous Membership Program and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and was commissioned from Middle Tennessee State University in 2016 as an Aviation Officer. After graduating from flight school at Fort Rucker, AL in 2019, he reported to 8-229th Assault Helicopter Battalion at Fort Knox, KY and served as a full time staff member; he flew UH-60L Blackhawks as a Pilot in Command and served as a Platoon Leader, Company Training Officer, Company Executive Officer, Assistant S3, and Special Projects Officer.
Following his tenure at Fort Knox, KY, he moved to Olathe, Kansas in 2021 where he served as a Platoon Leader for Bravo Company, 7-158th General Support Aviation Battalion (GSAB.) He attended the CH-47 Chinook Aircraft Qualification Course, then immediately deployed to Iraq and Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve where he served as the Detachment Officer in Charge. Upon returning in late 2022, he was promoted to Captain and took command of Bravo Company, 7-158th GSAB. During his time as Commander, he attended the High-Altitude ARNG Training Site (HAATS) school in Eagle, CO and mobilized a platoon of Chinooks to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia for the first time to support Operation Keris Strike. He completed his tenure in Command in 2025 and moved to Fort Rucker, AL where he attended the Aviation Captain’s Career Course before moving to Lynchburg to join Liberty’s AROTC program as Assistant Professor of Military Science.
His awards and decorations include: Senior Aviator Badge, Air Medal w/ C device, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w/ C device, Army Commendation Medal w/ 2 oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Ribbon, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal w/ M and bronze hourglass devices, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon, and Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon. CPT Hruschak is married to Kayla Hruschak of Murfreesboro, TN with two daughters.
