Computer Assessment

Computer Assessment Information

As you prepare for a rewarding career, it’s important to be proficient in variety of technological skills and computer programs. As part of this, you will take a computer assessment test to determine your proficiency level.

The computer assessment consists of four different tests, each part focusing on a different concept.

  • There is no charge for the computer assessment.
  • The computer assessment tests skills in MS Office 2016 and is taken in four separate parts:
    • Computer Concepts
    • Word
    • Excel
    • PowerPoint
  • The passing score for each assessment is 70%
  • The Computer Assessment must be taken before/at the beginning of your first semester at Liberty.

If you do not pass two or more of the tests, you will need to complete either Information Technology (INFT) 110 or 111.

  • INFT 110 — users with Windows devices
  • INFT 111 — users with Apple devices

If you do not pass just one of the tests, you will need to take the course for that particular concept.

  • Computer Concepts — INFT 000
  • Microsoft Powerpoint — INFT 102
  • Microsoft Excel — INFT 103
  • Microsoft Word — INFT 104

Transfer Students

Transfer students who have transferred in a course substituted for INFT 110 have satisfied the technology competency and do not need to take the assessment.

Computer Assessment Schedule

If you choose to take the Computer Assessment, make sure to take it before beginning your first semester at Liberty. It is available online during the Summer and the first few weeks of the Spring Semester and has time to use practice questions and the actual testing. You can access the assessment through your INFT-000 section in Canvas and it will link you to a Cengage account.

**Please note: If you do not take the assessment during the Summer or first few weeks of the Spring Semester before attending Liberty University you will need to take INFT 110 in the following Spring/Fall semester.
