Academic Integrity

Upholding Academic Integrity
At Liberty University, we place a high value on honesty and integrity in our community. You are an integral part of this community, and we expect you to uphold and esteem the university’s values and observe four key academic integrity principles when completing your coursework: honesty, originality, attribution, and authenticity.
Honesty
Every student is expected to be honest and truthful when completing work. One’s work should accurately reflect their abilities so they may be properly assessed.
Originality
A student’s work should be original. This means that each student’s work should be unique to them and should not be a copy of another’s work unless it is properly attributed.
Attribution
Ideas that do not originate with the student should be attributed to the source material. Words, ideas, images and information should include an indication crediting where they originated.
Authenticity
Work should be genuine, reliable, created with due diligence, and supported by evidence. A student’s work should accurately reflect and attribute their source materials.
Our Mission
The Office of Academic Integrity challenges students to honor Christ in all academic pursuits by fostering a learning environment that values integrity, fairness, ownership, trust, and personal responsibility.
