Intercultural Initiatives

Liberty’s Pastoral Counseling and Care (LPCC) office is committed to supporting students with cross-cultural backgrounds and experiences. We understand the unique challenges these students may face as they navigate life between cultures. Our care extends to students involved in study abroad programs, short‑term missions, international students and those who fall in Intercultural categories like Cross-Cultural Kids (CCKs), Third Culture Kids (TCKs), Missionary Kids (MKs), military kids, and others with multicultural experiences. Our goal is to provide care and resources that help with the practical and spiritual well-being of these students.

TCK (Third Culture Kids) Care

Liberty University’s TCK Program provides thoughtful support and transition care to help Third Culture Kids adjust to life in the United States and thrive in the Liberty community. The program fosters a biblically rooted, TCK-informed discipleship community that brings together MKs and the larger TCK community at Liberty to encourage shared learning and cross-cultural impact. It champions opportunities for TCKs to serve across the university, leveraging their global experiences to enrich and inspire others. Additionally, the program is committed to developing emotionally resilient, spiritually grounded leaders equipped to make a meaningful impact both on campus and beyond.

The following are opportunities within the program: TCK freshmen orientation, a weekly class for first and second year students, TCK focused small groups, opportunities for global prayer service, TCK events.

The Sojourn Track

The Sojourn Track invites students to commit to a weekly class and small group rooted in TCK‑informed discipleship and designed to walk alongside the care component of the TCK program. These spaces foster growth, reflection, and leadership development within a Christ‑centered community.

The first year focuses on the process of reentry through study in the book of Exodus, while the second year explores the biblical metanarrative through the themes of sojourning, citizenship, and God’s heart for the nations. Both years include teaching and guided group interaction.

Students who complete the Sojourn Track may also receive micro-credentialing from the University, recognizing their intentional formation and leadership development.

* Students receiving the MK Scholarship are automatically enrolled in the TCK Program and Sojourn Track and are expected to actively participate in its activities and community in order to maintain their scholarship.
