It’s Complicated Week 10 – David Nasser

Overview:

In this week’s message, Pastor David Nasser discussed prophetic vision. He remarked how vision is rooted in the past, clear in our present and being hopeful in our future. He reminded us that when it comes to tunnel vision, the antidote is the vision. In the vision, our past must be our teacher, the present must be our mirror, and the future must be our motivation. Since God sees the fullness of time, we must ask Him to be our vision. There is a difference between vision and prophetic vision; vision is what we can see and prophetic vision is given to us by God. Pastor David closed by remarking how prophetic vision never changes, but the strategy does because it is a means to an end.

Verses:

Proverbs 29:18

“Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint, but blessed is he who keeps the law.”

Jeremiah 23:16

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord”

Isaiah 53:5

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Numbers 12:6

“And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream”

Quotes:

“Selah moments are good because they allow us to look up and pause”

“It is a tragedy to have sight but no vision” – Helen Keller

“Vision is the supernatural ability to see not only what was, but what is and what will be.” – Tim Keller

It is supernatural that the prophet Isaiah has the confidence in God to be able to speak in the past tense when describing Jesus before Jesus ever walked the earth, “He WAS pierced for our transgressions, by His wounds, we ARE healed.”

“Be careful not to form a vision with you on the throne instead of God on the throne.”

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and not making any change.”

“My occupation is not my calling. My calling is my vision.”

“Some of us don’t want to come face to face with where we are on the map because then we will have to be accountable for who we are.”

Questions:

1) What are some other vision statements you can think of from artists, Presidents, or maybe even your parents?
2.) Have you ever thought about a vision God has put on your life? Are you practically taking steps to be apart of it?
3) A beginning step to finding a vision on your life is discerning what passions God has placed on your heart. Ask yourself what passions the Lord has given you.
4) We were told that insanity can be defined as something that is done over and over again expecting a different result. Have you ever found yourself in a cycle similar to this?
5) How have you experienced God as being the ultimate promise keeper?
6) How can you discern the difference between demonic vision and prophetic vision?
