New loan repayment program open to eligible missionary aviation seniors, alumni

The Liberty University School of Aeronautics has launched a Mission Aviation Loan Repayment Program designed to help graduates answer God’s call to serve in the mission field without the burden of educational debt delaying their deployment.

The program, made possible by anonymous seed donations, is open to eligible seniors who plan to enter the mission field and Liberty graduates already serving with missionary organizations.

The fund supports the university’s broader vision of creating a sustainable pipeline of Christian aviation professionals serving around the world.

“For many graduates, the calling to mission aviation is clear, but the financial burden of aviation training can delay their ability to step into full-time ministry service,” said Dr. Steven Brinly, dean of the School of Aeronautics. “This program is designed to remove that barrier and help accelerate the deployment of highly trained Christian aviators into regions of the world where aviation is often essential for delivering the Gospel, humanitarian aid, medical support, and hope. We are incredibly grateful for these generous seed gifts and look forward to seeing how God uses this fund to equip, mentor, and send the next generation of missionary aviators.”

The fund reflects a growing interest in mission aviation among students, based on surveys conducted by the School of Aeronautics. University leaders hope the fund will continue to grow through additional donor support, creating a lasting resource that helps missionary pilots, maintenance professionals, and aviation administrators answer the call to serve.

“Every gift, regardless of size, helps remove barriers for graduates pursuing God’s call to serve through aviation,” Brinly said. “By investing in these students, donors are helping expand the reach of the Gospel to some of the most remote regions of the world while supporting critical humanitarian, medical, and community-development efforts made possible through aviation.”

Loan repayment distributions for current students will begin after graduation and the start of full-time service with an approved mission organization. Selected graduates may receive assistance for up to five years; total awards will be capped at the balance of approved loans. Recipients will be recertified annually to confirm continued service and any changes in duties. The School of Aeronautics reserves the right to amend the program’s terms and policies, which remain subject to the university’s governing bylaws, policies, and procedures.
