Residential Graduate Certificate in Clinical Pastoral Education I

General Information for the Clinical Pastoral Education I – Graduate Certificate

Both of our 16 week courses are online synchronous via Microsoft Teams. Students will need to enroll in (CPED 631) first. This course requires a one-week, on-campus intensive. The second course in the program (CPED 632) has an online intensive. 

The Level I Clinical Pastoral Education graduate certificate is available to graduate students who meet the academic requirements below. After completion, you can take the next level of certification: Graduate Certificate: Level II Clinical Pastoral Education.

This certificate is also available online.

Hands-On Experience

With this certificate, you will be required to find a clinical site where you can complete 300 hours of clinical experience per CPE unit. You will complete 600 clinical experience hours for this certificate. 

Seminary Professors and Facilities 

All of our CPE Professors are both Certified Educators and Board-Certified Chaplains. Each of our Educators actively serves in chaplaincy across a variety of ministry contexts, including military and healthcare settings.

Take classes in the 275-foot-tall Freedom Tower and the large, three-story building encircling its base, which are home to the John W. Rawlings School of Divinity. As a student at Liberty Theological Seminary, you’ll also be able to utilize our on-campus Scriptorium and Homiletics lab.
