I was right about everything — and by that, I mean two things. Let’s revisit my MLB predictions!
Back in April, I did a column with my 2025 MLB predictions. Well, now that we have officially entered the postseason, I figured we could revisit and test my accuracy.
Though the division series games are still underway and it is still anyone’s game on the road to the World Series, we are going to look at who came out on top of the regular season.
Well … that didn’t go as planned
Remember when I said the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles would battle for the top seat in the AL East? Well … hopefully not, because I was wrong. The O’s did not punch a ticket to the postseason, but at least my Yankees held on until the Divisional Series.
The major contenders in the division were the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, until New York won the Wild Card Series to send their rivals back to Boston.
The Cleveland Guardians caught me by surprise, finishing above my predicted Detroit Tigers to take AL Central in the regular season. Detroit knocked Cleveland out of the wild cards though, so I might get partial credit for that one.
Texas Rangers, you have let me down. The Seattle Mariners came out on top of the AL West, which was not something I saw coming.
As for the NL Central, the Chicago Cubs finished No. 2 in the division. Honestly, I never did have much faith in them, so that checks out.
Nailed it
Unsurprisingly and unfortunately, the main team I was right about is the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
I also correctly projected the Philadelphia Phillies to take the NL East. I will say, the New York Mets did have me worried for a time — but let’s be real, they are still the Mets.
Who will come out on top?
Now for the big question: who will progress through the championships to win the World Series?
Now I know I initially projected a repeat of the 2024 World Series with the Yankees taking the victory this year, but after New York’s performance against Toronto I have changed my stance. I am going to take the Phillies as an underdog to knock the favorited Dodgers out of the divisional round and progress through the Championship Series.
As for the final victor, if they can hold the Blue Jays at bat, this season may find Philadelphia winning its third World Series. Am I crazy? I guess we’ll find out at the end of October.
