Student Activities offers events for LU students

Freshman Daisha Harris attended her first campus event on just her second day on campus. It was SA @ Nite, an evening of fun put together by Liberty’s Student Activities office, with karaoke, games and old TV shows.

Harris’ experience has her excited for more events as the semester goes on. She hopes to find some more of the vibe that she found at that first party.

“One of the reasons I came to Liberty was because the atmosphere is so great and everyone becomes so involved and they like being there,” said Harris. “It’s sort of hard to find a person who doesn’t want to be there.”

SA @ Nite was only one in a series of events that Student Activities hosted as their Welcome Week. Now the school calendar stretches ahead, full of more excitement planned for students.

“Every year we like to think our events are better than the year before,” says Erin Cleveland, the assistant director of Student Activities.

There’s a block party Sept. 8, with carnival rides and live music. As the semester progresses there will be a laser tag tournament, an art expo, a fall festival, a homecoming parade and a trip to Busch Gardens.

The old favorites are back, too—movie nights, Open Mic and game nights.

The semester’s performance lineup includes Phil Wickham, PEABOD, Red and some of Liberty’s own talented students. And, of course, there is the ultimate campus talent show, Christmas Coffeehouse.

Students can keep abreast of this packed calendar through social media. Student Activities posts on FacebookInstagram and Twitter. Also, their website includes a calendar and blog.
