Each session will last one and a half hours.
The Telos Book Club is a literary community hosted by the Center for Student Thriving. The Greek word telos means “purpose” or “ultimate fulfillment.” Yet, we live in a culture marked by a drift toward purposelessness shaped by a diminishing sense of the true, the good, and the beautiful.
The Telos Book Club offers a different vision. We believe our purpose is grounded in our Creator and His redemptive work, the source of all truth, goodness, and beauty (James 1:17; Isaiah 43:7). And because every person bears His image (Genesis 1:27), imperfect traces of these gifts can be found throughout human culture and art. So, following C.S. Lewis’s counsel to let “the clean sea breeze of the centuries” refresh our minds, we read old books with the expectation that they will challenge, refine, and reorient us as we seek to recover a clearer vision of our God-given purpose.
