Summer Experiences: Converge

Despite a rich religious history, the Baltic nation of Estonia is one of the least-reached countries in the world. Less than 2% of the people there know Jesus. Despite the challenges, we see hope every day through impactful ministry efforts. Young people in Estonia are taking steps of leadership in the church. We are pouring into opportunities to see a thriving, multiplying gospel movement in this region.

You can make an eternal [IM]PACT as you deepen your faith and serve in Estonia. Spend your summer outdoors, working alongside Converge global workers and local leaders in dynamic summer camp ministries. Engage in youth and children’s outreach, sharing the Good News of Jesus with Estonian and Slavic communities who may be hearing it for the very first time.

Despite a rich religious history, the Nordic-Baltic region has shifted into a post-Christian era, marked by the dominance of secularism and progressivism. With an estimated 2-3% of people in this region following Christ, Converge global workers are working diligently to spread the gospel across Finland.

As an [IM]PACT intern, you will have the opportunity to grow in your faith as you serve in the northern European country of Finland. As an [IM]PACT Intern in Finland, you will work alongside the creative Good Coffee Company and the Finnish Baptist Union by helping coordinate and serve in outreach, evangelism and ministry opportunities.

Despite a rich religious history, we estimate that only 2-3% of the 33 million people in the Nordic-Baltic region, where decades of former Soviet occupation have shaped the societal and spiritual landscape, follow Christ. But in the Baltic country of Latvia, leaders are organized and full of vision to plant new churches.

Through this internship, you can grow in your faith as you serve in Latvia. Work alongside the innovative and growing Latvian Baptist Union and its churches. Help coordinate and serve in outreach and evangelism opportunities, youth engagement, camp ministries and the unique Latvian Draft Camps. There is growing momentum for the church in this former Soviet republic.

The Spice Islands Initiative is focused on reaching Muslim unreached people groups for Christ and gathering the new believers into churches. A key value is to work in partnership with local churches and agencies.

Join us as we live among and serve several unreached people groups on this large island in Southeast Asia. Experience the relational community offered by the Islamic and animistic people as you participate in various programs, including English teaching, sports ministry and work amongst the culture’s most marginalized people. Your initiative and willingness to engage independently while being supported by our team will provide an impactful experience.

The 6 Degree Initiative is a church-planting movement focused on the unreached people groups located just north of the equator in West Africa. The 6 Degree spans across the balmy African coast that has been impacted most by Voodoo and its exportation of precious human life through the slave trade. In Togo, where 70% of the population is under 30 years old, we reach and train the next generation of leaders.

[IM]PACT Interns will have the opportunity to experience true missionary life and community in Togo, the voodoo capital of the world. You will see how the gospel is transforming lives and communities through witnessing and participating in the vibrant growth of churches and disciples. Ultimately, our goal for every intern who comes is for them to leave with a higher view of God, a proper view of self and their next step in the Great Commission.

The second largest unreached people group in the world, the Japanese people present great opportunity for Kingdom impact. The gospel has been preached in Japan for 450+ years. While there have been brief periods of gospel-movement activity, the cumulative impact remains minuscule; approximately .05% of 124 million people know Jesus.

[IM]PACT Interns will have the opportunity to serve alongside our Tokyo, Osaka or Wakayama teams. In Tokyo and Osaka, you will work with a network of churches that build evangelistic relationships through English ministry while gaining ministry experience in two of the world’s largest megacities. In Wakayama, interns will serve in a rural setting that is considered the spiritual home of Shinto and Buddhism in Japan.

One of the largest unreached nations in the world, Thailand presents great opportunity for Kingdom impact. We choose to engage the Thai people with the gospel of Jesus Christ and develop transformational leaders to expand the kingdom of God. The [IM]PACT Intern will serve alongside the Santisuk English School.

Santisuk has offered evangelistic English classes to more than 20,000 different Thai students over the past 30+ years. Ministry at Santisuk is not spent with things, but with people. In a country where English is not spoken or understood (like Thailand), you will be immediately effective even though you can’t speak Thai. Come prepared to be and live a life of witness.
