2021 Serve Lynchburg
A Day of Service
April 16-17, 2021
Serve Lynchburg is an annual event in which Liberty University students, faculty, staff, and Lynchburg residents join together with community partners in order to satisfy local community needs. Two years ago, nearly 2000 people joined together to serve more than 100 community organizations in the greater Lynchburg area. Connect with us at firstname.lastname@example.org!
What precautions will be taken to keep volunteers and community members safe?
At all times, LU Serve staff will comply with all Liberty Student Health and Wellness standards regarding events. While waiting in line at entrances and while in attendance, 6 ft. of separation will be required at all times, unless individuals are from the same household. Check-in lines and standing spots will be marked with a 6 ft. separation. As a part of Serve Lynchburg, volunteers will be required to wear masks the entire time they are participating in Serve Lynchburg, with the exception for those individuals with certain medical conditions or while consuming food or beverage and including when in vehicles.
Volunteers will be in groups of no more than 25 per project for each time slot. In order to maintain social distancing, projects are defined by separate drop off points and workspaces. Facilities large enough to support multiple projects may have multiple groups, working separately from one another.
How can I register with my friends?
Serve Lynchburg is a great opportunity to serve the community with your friends. When registering, simply choose the same worksite as those you want to serve with and you will be on a team together. BUT, if you are signing up on your own, don’t worry! Serve Lynchburg is a great opportunity to meet other volunteers who want to serve their community as well as you tackle a project together.
What do I wear?
Please wear your Serve Lynchburg 2021 T-shirt! You will pick up your t-shirt a few days before the event. Closed-toe shoes are required for all volunteers. For the rest of your clothing choices, be sure to take a look at the weather and keep in mind the project description for your worksite. Many projects are outdoors and can get dirty so consider wearing clothes that may get very dirty or ruined. Consider bringing a hat and sunscreen for outdoor projects in warm weather or a jacket/coat/rain jacket in cool or wet weather.
What should I bring?
Please bring and wear a mask. As a part of Serve Lynchburg, volunteers will be required to wear masks the entire time they are participating in Serve Lynchburg, with the exception of those individuals with certain medical conditions or while consuming food or beverage and including when in vehicles. Volunteers should also consider bringing a refillable water bottle and a snack if needed.
Is food provided?
A meal will be provided for each workgroup. Bag lunches will be available for those serving on Friday. Coffee and Donuts will be provided for Saturday’s Group 1 at the Launch. Bag lunches will be available for Saturday Group 2. We will not be able to accommodate dietary restrictions. Volunteers are welcome to bring alternative meals if needed. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
