Serve Now News: January 2026

Happy New Year!

LU Serve wishes you a very happy New Year! In 2025, the Serve Now program deployed eight Serve Now trips, one of them being its very first Faculty/Staff trip. The program also hosted more events than ever thanks to student feedback. Thank you to all who have served or participated in the program during this past year. We look forward to serving alongside you this New Year!

Serve Now Deployment

Buncombe County, North Carolina

Ten students and two leaders served alongside Samaritan’s Purse in Asheville, North Carolina from January 11th-16th. This was a rebuild trip in response to last year’s Hurricane Helene. The team painted; installed flooring, floor joists, and subfloors; and framed.

• Trauma Basics Training: February 23rd from 5-8 pm. Dinner provided.
• Serve Now Connect: Movie Night – March 10th from 6:30-9 pm. Snacks provided.
• Serve Now Connect: Trivia Night – April 13th from 5-7 pm. Dinner provided.
• Travel Safety Workshops: In-person on February 19th and April 9th from 4-5:30 pm. Online on February 17th from 2-3:30 pm. Snacks provided.

Prayer Points

• Pray for those who are still rebuilding in North Carolina and Texas as Samaritan’s Purse continues to work in these two states.

• Pray for the four teams that will be deployed this semester. One to Lahaina, HI, one to San Angelo, TX, one to Honduras, and another to Asheville, NC.

• Pray for college students around the country who are traveling home for the holidays.
