LU Send offers Liberty students the opportunity to study abroad through programs that combine academic excellence, cultural immersion, and spiritual growth. Whether you’re looking for a semester-long experience or a summer adventure, we have options to fit your goals.
Signature Study Abroad Programs
These programs are designed specifically for Liberty students to travel together in a Christian community. You’ll earn Liberty credit, use your financial aid (including institutional scholarships), and grow spiritually while studying abroad.

Custom programs are offered through trusted third-party organizations or direct partnerships with host universities. These programs provide flexibility in location, academic focus, and duration—perfect for students across all majors.

Host Universities
Paying for your Program
Financial Aid & Scholarships – The types of financial aid a student can use when studying abroad depend on the type of program they choose.
- Signature: Students are allowed to see both Liberty institutional scholarships (including DGIA) and federal financial aid to finance their signature study abroad program while receiving credit directly from Liberty University. In these programs, students pay a set program fee based on location, Liberty University tuition, and the LU Send study abroad fee.
- Custom: Students are allowed to sefederal and outside financial aid to finance their custom study abroad program by using a consortium agreement. In these programs, students pay a program fee set by the partner organization and the LU Send study abroad fee. Most major costs are included in the program fee, including but not limited to tuition, housing, meals or meal plan (depending on accommodations), excursions, and insurance.
Please note that final financial aid awards are determined by the Financial Aid Office. Please note that in all cases, Liberty’s General Scholarship Rule applies.
Students can use outside loans, scholarships, and grants but cannot use Liberty awarded scholarships for program cost. For more information on Custom Program specifics please see the Policies & Guidelines.
