Liberty Flames fans prepare for Bahamas Bowl bash against Buffalo

As Liberty University Football sets its sights on its sixth consecutive bowl appearance, a Bahamas Bowl matchup against MAC opponent Buffalo on Saturday, Flames fans have multiple opportunities to take part in the action.

The game will feature a pair of eight-win teams looking to end the 2024 campaign with a victory. The contest will be nationally televised on ESPN2 from Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m. EST.

Liberty finished the regular season with an 8-3 record, including a 5-3 mark in Conference USA competition. With the squad sporting a handful of new faces following several key players opting out of the contest, Head Coach Jamey Chadwell highlighted the important role this game has in capping this past season as well as preparing the team for the 2025 campaign.

“Our team is excited about playing and wants to finish this season the right way,” he said in a press conference on Dec. 17. “There are obviously a lot of guys that are returning. This will be an opportunity for them to set the tone for next season. Anytime you can go into the offseason with a victory, I think that’s important. … Our team’s excited about what it can do for this year’s group, the legacy they can leave, but also continue to grow the program going forward.”

Fans attending the game are encouraged to cheer from the Liberty fan section at Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium, where they will receive commemorative badges from Flames Club and Ticket Office staff displaying their graduation year and affiliation.

“I am so incredibly excited to get to go to the Bahamas Bowl and cheer on the Flames,” said Liberty parent Amy Skelton. “I went to the Cure Bowl in 2020 and had an absolute blast and even was blessed with making some lifelong friends in the process. I absolutely cannot believe we have the opportunity to take a cruise ship to the Bahamas for a Bowl Game. … I know the Flames are going to play with all their heart, and we will be cheering for them the whole time.”

Fans traveling to the game were invited to board one of two separate Royal Caribbean cruises headed to Nassau and arriving on gameday. Utopia of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas leave port on Jan. 3 from Orlando, Fla., and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., respectively. Ground transportation from each was available for purchase through the Liberty Flames website. Travelers aboard Liberty of the Sea can also participate in several informal Flames fan events to meet other Liberty fans on the ship.

Fans were also invited to book rooms at Comfort Suites Paradise Island or the team hotel at the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas, both of which could be reserved through the Liberty Flames Club website.

Flames Club will host an exciting fan event on Friday, Jan. 3, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Atlantis Hotel, allowing Liberty fans to connect with Liberty administrators and fellow supporters who made the trip for the bowl game. Attendees can also pick up their fan credentials and game tickets from the Ticket Office staff, and grab exclusive Bahamas Bowl swag, including stickers, sunglasses, and other promotional items.
