Reagan Underwood, a junior on the Liberty University Field Hockey team, has been chosen to represent USA Field Hockey in next month’s Junior Pan American Championships in Barbados.

Underwood is one of 18 players who will represent the U.S. U-21 Squad at the nine-day championship event, held April 10-18 in St. Michael, Barbados. There are also two non-traveling reserves on the team to round out the 20-player roster. The championships will be held at the Wildey Hockey Centre in the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

Underwood was selected by U.S. U-21 Women’s National Team Head Coach Tracey Paul based on her performance at a Pre-JPAC Preparation Camp in Charlotte, N.C., last weekend. The top three finishing teams at JPAC will receive berths into the 2023 FIH Junior Hockey World Cup, scheduled for Dec. 6-17 in Santiago, Chile.

Underwood has spent three seasons as a Lady Flame, accruing a total of three goals and 17 assists. She heavily contributed to the Fall 2021 team who made school history by advancing to the NCAA National Championship, the first time for any NCAA Division I team at Liberty. She finished that season with three goals and seven assists.

The digital media and journalism student has numerous awards in her time at Liberty, including being named to the BIG EAST All -Tournament Team as a freshman and earning a spot on the BIG EAST All-Academic team for her freshman and sophomore seasons.
