New Liberty University paint scheme to adorn Byron’s No. 24 Chevy for 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season

CONCORD, N.C. — The No. 24  Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE, driven by junior business communications major William Byron, will have a fresh Liberty University scheme for the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, designed by Liberty’s Marketing team.

On Wednesday, the white scheme with navy and red details was unveiled for Byron’s fourth season in the NASCAR Cup Series. The No. 24 team expressed that it would love to see Liberty University colors against a white background, which provided inspiration for the 2021 design.

“I’m really excited about the Liberty University paint scheme for the 2021 season,” said Byron, who is pursuing his degree through Liberty’s online programs. “We brought back more of the white as a base that we used during the Xfinity Series days. I think it looks great and will really stand out when it’s on the track, whether it’s a day race or under the lights. I’m really looking forward to getting back on track and hopefully getting some wins with it.”

Byron won his first Cup Series race last season driving in Liberty University colors at Daytona International Speedway. The university wanted to commemorate Byron’s impressive overtime win with an updated scheme.

Byron is entering his fourth season driving for HMS in NASCAR’s Cup Series, sponsored by Liberty University.
Liberty University will serve as the primary sponsor for Hendrick Motor Sports’ No. 24 car driven by online student William Byron at 12 of the races on the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series schedule.

“Although the old car had an exceptional design, we thought it was time to change things up a bit,” Liberty University’s Marketing staff said. “We hope that designing a new, winning paint scheme for the Liberty University No. 24 Chevy will bring added excitement to the Hendrick Motorsports fans and LU family for the 2021 season.”

Liberty University will serve as the primary sponsor for Byron’s No. 24 car in 12 races in 2021 — March 7 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway; March 21 at Atlanta Motor Speedway; March 28 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway; April 10 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway; April 18 at Richmond (Va.) Raceway; April 25 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway; May 23 at Circuit of the Americas (Texas); May 30, for the 600 Miles of Remembrance race Memorial Day weekend at Byron’s home track, Charlotte Motor Speedway; June 20 at Nashville Superspeedway; July 24 at Road America (Wisc.); Sept. 11 at Richmond Raceway; and Oct. 31 at Martinsville Speedway.

This season, Byron will be reunited with crew chief Rudy Fugle on top of the pit box. Fugle called the shots for Byron during his time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2016, collecting an impressive seven wins together en route to Byron earning the first of three successive Rookie of the Year honors.
