Liberty launches Sonic-Con, a new, national audio theatre convention

Final preparations are being made to welcome visitors from across the country to Sonic-Con, a new, national audio theatre convention hosted by Liberty University. This unique, family-friendly event will welcome voice-over professionals and fan favorites James Arnold Taylor, Katie Leigh, and Phil Lollar.

Sonic-Con’s unique programming will allow convention-goers to do more than simply meet industry guests; it will give fans and aspiring professionals opportunities to learn and create during the jam-packed weekend event.

Executive director Chris Nelson, said, “Liberty is the perfect place to host this convention: families can come together, redemptive stories can be told, and like-minded people can share ideas on shaping culture through audio theatre.”

Sonic-Con will be offering the following during the weekend convention:

  •  James Arnold Taylor’s one-man show, “Talking to Myself,” where he will voice over 200 characters in a live, stage event. Taylor is best known for voicing Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as well as many others.
  • A wide variety of masterclasses in voice-over work, writing, sound editing, conceptual art, etc.
  •  Live radio dramas of original audio works, with live Foley sound effects
  • A New-Work Festival, highlighting radio dramas in progress
  • Katie Leigh, best known for the voice of Connie Kendall from Focus on the Family’s Adventures in Odyssey and Phil Lollar, one of the co-creators of the show, will sit down for a special Q & A entitled Odyssey: Lessons Learned.
