Liberty to participate in Virginia Private College Week 2018

This month, prospective college students and families from all over the Commonwealth are invited to tour Liberty University’s campus and attend information sessions on admissions, financial aid, academic programs, and extracurricular activities during Virginia Private College Week, July 23-28.

The week is hosted by the Council of Independent Colleges in Virginia (CICV) and open to all Virginia residents who are rising high school juniors and seniors or prospective transfer students.

Tours will be held at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and will begin at the Hancock Welcome Center. Attendants will also have a chance to attend a special scholarship session following the tour.

This marks the 10th year Liberty has participated in Virginia Private College Week, which is aimed at addressing common myths about private college education and emphasizing the quality of instruction at private institutions.

“Selecting the right college is one of the hardest decisions a family can make,” said Ed Parker, associate director of the Visitors Center. “These tours give them a chance to learn about Liberty’s broad degree offerings and to explore every area of college life, from housing and dining to our exciting student life activities. It’s a great opportunity for potential students to discover what Liberty has to offer them right in their home state.”

Students who visit at least three participating institutions during the week will receive three application fee waivers and may use it to apply for free to any three participating CICV institutions of their choice. They will also be eligible for a drawing for a $500 Amazon gift card.

Liberty has special events for visitors throughout the year, including ExperienceLU and DecideLU, where prospective students and their families explore life at Liberty through exciting tours of its growing campus and meetings with faculty as well as admissions and financial aid staff. College For A Weekend (CFAW), which is held twice a semester, provides high school juniors, seniors, and transfer students the opportunity to experience life as a college student at Liberty. Upcoming dates are Sept. 20-23 and Nov. 8-11. (High school sophomores are eligible to attend CFAW during the spring semester.)
