Baby bottles filled with money collected by Liberty University students for the local Liberty Godparent Home lined a table below the stage at Wednesday’s convocation in the Vines Center.
The Liberty Godparent Home reaches out to young women who are facing pregnancy alone, providing them with shelter, medical care, and a network of Christian families who are willing to adopt.
Three weeks ago President of Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary Dr. Ergun Caner initiated a special offering for the charity and kicked off the Baby Bottle Campaign.
The special offering amounted to an overwhelming $6,000 – and the combined efforts of the offering and the Baby Bottle Campaign could make this the largest donation students have ever given, Campus Pastor Johnnie Moore told them on Wednesday.
“Liberty is a life-oriented university. We believe in doing everything in our power to save the lives of every single child that we possibly can through our Godparent ministry,” he said.
A representative of the Liberty Godparent Home said it could take a few weeks before a final count of the money is announced.
