Personal Online Safety Tips
At Liberty University, we are always striving to keep our students safe and equipping our students with resources to help them maintain personal safety awareness. Check out these personal online safety tips that you can use to help prevent threats to your safety.
Champion Safe
Download The Champion Safe App to be up to date on safety alerts and aware of the resources available to you.
Use Common Sense
If something doesn’t look or feel right, it probably isn’t.
React to Potential Problems Before They Can Develop
Don’t wait for an uncertain or uncomfortable situation to go wrong. Leave, call police, or take other protective actions.
Educate Yourself
Take time to review personal safety information from an accurate and trustworthy source. Make sure that the websites you use are reliable and be cautious with public Wi-Fi.
Don’t Give Out Personal Information
Avoid online scams and extortion attempts by keeping your personal information private. Don’t give out your phone number, social media, social security information, or banking info to someone you don’t know.
Do Not Share Nude Photos of Yourself
Nothing on the internet is gone forever. What you put out on the internet can always be found. Be careful who you share images with and do not send nude photos; they can be used for extortion.
Report, Report, Report
Suspicious activity should be reported to police, security, and/or campus safety officials. The problem is unknown unless you report it!
