Liberty University students were asked which they enjoy more: the dawn of a new day with sunlight crossing the sky, or the vibrant orange and pink hues bursting from a setting sun.
Students were divided in their preferences. Those who favored watching sunrises said getting up early offers them more time to be productive throughout the day. Others preferred sleeping in.
When discussing sunrises, sophomore Kacie Watson said she enjoys having the moment to herself.
“There’s not very many people out … and it’s always very quiet and peaceful, and you don’t always get that in a sunset,” Watson said.
Sophomore Ryan Fogal said he enjoys sunsets because he has fond memories of watching them on the West Coast when he was growing up. He also said watching sunsets is a good way to end the night because it makes him appreciate nature and the people around him.
Many students said one of the best places to witness a sunrise or sunset is on a grassy hill in front of Liberty University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine because the medical building provides a beautiful overlook of Liberty’s campus and the mountains in the distance.
Other Students shared their favorite memories beyond Lynchburg.
Freshman Abby Krchmar said her favorite memory was when she was visiting Hawaii and woke up early to see the sunrise.
Sophomore Lauren Allen said her best memory was when she and her mother went on a sunrise hike in Colorado.
Sunrises and sunsets serve as beautiful reminders of God’s love and the beauty of his creation. Experiencing these moments with friends and family can create lasting memories.
