Opinion: Trump’s Policies Show That He Loves America

President Donald J. Trump ran for office in 2016 – the first time he had ever run for a government position of any kind. At first, there were many who thought his plan to run was a joke. Not many thought he would win his party’s nomination, much less the presidency. When he made public his decision to run for president, he said, “If elected president, I will bring it (U.S.) back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. We will make America great again!”

The billionaire businessman had made a name for himself long before his run for office. He took over his father’s company at a young age and went from marketing homes in New York to hotels and luxury buildings in Manhattan. Soon he became the host of “The Apprentice” and owned the Miss USA pageant for a time. He even made a cameo in the wildly popular movie “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.” His brand continued to grow from there.

On the campaign trail and in the oval office, Trump’s stance on many important societal issues took center stage. In the realm of abortion, the pro-life president once had a pro-choice stance, but that has changed in recent years. In his 2019 State of the Union, Trump said, “Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children – born and unborn – are made in the holy image of God.” He became the first U.S. president to speak at the annual March for Life.

Additionally, Trump made a point of appointing pro-life judges to the courts and has often mentioned a potential overturn of Roe v. Wade. He also said Planned Parenthood should be defunded, and according to On the Issues, he is working to put an end to medical research that uses the tissue of aborted babies.

Trump is a supporter of the Second Amendment and the rights of the people to protect themselves, as reported by AP. He has noted that Second Amendment rights are just as important as free speech and religious freedom.

In the realm of religious freedom, he has signed executive orders that protect students’ right to pray, read their Bible and meet with prayer groups in school without fear of retaliation from school officials.

He said, “Our Founders understood that no right is more fundamental to a peaceful, prosperous and virtuous society than the right to follow one’s religious convictions.” He has often referenced the importance of faith in society in many of his speeches.

In his first year of office, he signed an executive order to maintain religious liberty in the United States and ensure that all the religions in the U.S. are treated equally by those who are in government.

The Trump administration has also shown support for school choice, something many Democrats do not believe in. With school choice, students can choose where they would like to go to school and where they are most likely to succeed instead of being bound by where they live.

The administration also recently donated $85 million to the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship program, the nation’s only school choice program, to allow students in Washington to attend private schools.

In January of this year, Trump signed an executive order on “Combating Human Trafficking and Online Child Exploitation” in the U.S. He also created the first position in the White House that focuses on combating this issue in the nation. Trump’s administration gave $35 million to aid trafficking survivors and to provide them with housing.

He said, “We renew our resolve to redouble our efforts to deliver justice to all who contribute to the cruelty of human trafficking, and will tenaciously pursue the promise of freedom for all victims of this terrible crime.”

Additionally, the President lowered taxes for Americans, and has said multiple times that he does not believe in putting an extra tax on the upper class just because they are wealthy.

Despite attacks from the media, this President has received support from people of all colors, ethnicities, genders and ways of life. He represents those who felt like they had no voice in their government’s decisions.

Trump has been a president who has put American’s needs above the establishment and has shown that the nation does not need a career politician to run the country. It needs someone who, despite his human flaws, loves this nation and loves the people of this country enough to put them first.
