Scholarships

As an Air Force ROTC cadet, you may be eligible for scholarships, offered only once a semester. The application process is highly competitive.
You may re-apply multiple times for scholarships while in the program – pending Detachment Commander approval and nomination, and based on your performance in the program. Applications open each semester.
- Can I use other scholarships with AFROTC?
- Yes! Note: Non-ROTC scholarships pay out first.
Academic & Scholarship Requirements
Application Frequency: Once per semester; must be nominated by Detachment Commander
In-College Scholarship Nomination Requirements:
- Cumulative GPA: ≥3.0
- Term GPA (last semester): ≥2.5
Competitive Averages: 3.2 GPA, 92 PT score, top 10% ranking
Scholarship Policy:
- Must use other scholarships first
- AFROTC scholarships apply to tuition and fees or room and board – not both
Nursing Scholarships: For Nursing majors accepted into Nursing School

Scholarship Opportunities
- Scholarships may be extended one year for SAF-approved majors listed in AFROTC 36-2011 (except the CMLA)
- Cadets must meet all eligibility and activation requirements for all scholarships and awards (IAW Table 4.4)
- Any award can be converted to room scholarship, up to $10,000 per year
Pre-College
HSSP Scholarship (November-March release dates)
- HSSP (for critical degrees Type-1) –4 years
In-College
GMC AS100/200:ICSP Scholarship (Spring board with activation the next fall)
- ICSP (Type-2, critical degrees may be updated to Type-1) – 3 years
New AS300s: Brigadier General Charles McGee Leadership Award (CMLA) – must activate prior to Dec. 31 in CY of award
- CMLA (Type-2, any degree) – 2 years
HSSP | ICSP | Nursing | STEM
Nursing Scholarships are only awarded to Nursing majors who have been accepted into the Nursing School of their respective universities.
