Global Studies Experiential Learning

Internship

Students majoring in Global Studies experience a taste of international life and work when they complete a required semester-long cultural immersion internship that includes guided coursework, ethnographic research, and a barefoot language learning component. For more information email glstinternships@liberty.edu to connect with Global Studies staff and get started in the process.

Please note: Global Studies majors or Global Studies cognates with a required internship need to fill out the GLST Internship Tracking Form as soon as the major is declared. We also encourage students with Global Studies minors or specializations who are interested in the optional internship to fill out the form as well.

Global Studies Experiences

Global Studies Experiences provide hands-on cross-cultural opportunities through a team environment. These teams are offered during Spring and Summer break for academic credit. Specific opportunities change each year and will be publicized during the Fall semester of each year.

Jungle Camp

An elective experiential learning course that teaches intercultural concepts, survival skills, and cultural adjustments through simulated tribal contexts. This course is offered in an intensive format during the week of Fall Break each year. Students who participate in this course receive 3 hours of credit for GLST 485. Note: There is a course fee in addition to standard tuition. The current course fee is $450. This covers housing, food, transportation, and some course materials, but does not cover the textbook. For more information email globalstudies@liberty.edu.

Center for Global Engagement

Global Studies students are encouraged to participate in opportunities through The Center for Global Engagement. The Center for Global Engagement exists to foster a global perspective within the Liberty University community that reflects God’s love for all nations and produces involvement throughout the world. This is accomplished through conferences, cross-cultural internships, mentorship opportunities, and financial programs.

Global Focus Week is a great extracurricular opportunity for Global Studies students.
