Are there any exemptions to the $170 Student Health Fee?

      • The Student Health Fee is built into your tuition each semester. Although there is no exemption for the fee prior to financial check-in, a student may appeal the Student Health Fee for semesters where one or both conditions listed below are met during the semester:
        • If you are involved in a program that keeps you away from Liberty’s campus for more than half of the semester.
        • If you are a commuter student who resides outside of the Central Virginia area
      • Please note: Students may request an exemption until the final day of each semester’s classes.

How do I appeal the $170 Student Health Fee?

When did the Student Health Center implement the student health fee?

      • The Student Health Center implemented the health fee in the Fall semester of 2016.

What services does the Student Health Fee include?

      • Physician, nurse practitioner, and physician’s assistant office visits
      • Acute care visits
      • In-office lab tests and diagnostics (including blood draws, EKGs, and basic X-rays)
      • Annual physicals
      • Chronic disease management for asthma, diabetes, auto-immune disorders, and other long-term conditions
      • Coordination of care with specialists
      • Preventive care visits
      • Nutritional and health coaching

Does the Student Health Center offer insurance?

      • No, the Student Health Center does not offer insurance at this time. The Student Health Fee is as a result of the benefit for health care services and not an insurance program. For more information, please visit the Student Health Center’s Insurance Questions web page.
  • In what instances would the Student Health Center charge me?

      • Some vaccinations, specialized lab procedures, or diagnostic testing may fall outside the scope of the services covered by the Student Health Fee.

Do I need to complete my Financial Check-In before I request a student health fee exemption?

      • You must complete Financial Check-In (FCI) and pay the student health fee in order to appeal. When your FCI is complete, you may request an exemption.

What forms of immunization records will be accepted?

      • The preferred method is for you to fill out the Liberty-provided health form with the doctor’s signature and the dates of your vaccinations located in your ASIST account. However, there are other acceptable methods:
      • Official Department of Health issued document
      • Document with the doctor’s signature, emblem, stamp, or seal is present

How do I avoid the $50 late fee?

      • Students can avoid the $50 late fee by completing the Immunizations, Tuberculosis Screening, and Medical History sections of the Student Health Form before the end of the first week of class (add/drop week). Please see Student Health Records.

How do I appeal the $50 late fine?

      • To appeal the $50 Student Health Fee Late Fine, you may submit a Student Health Appeal Form.
      • Students may appeal late fines until the final day of each semester’s classes.

Where can I drop off my immunization records?

      • You may drop off your immunization records at the Student Health Center & Wellness Initiatives department which is located in Commons 3, A wing.

How do I schedule an appointment with the Student Health Center?

      • During the academic year, appointments can only be scheduled in person for the current day, please keep in mind that they are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. During the summer, students may schedule an appointment via phone.

How many times can you go to the Student Health Center?

      • You can visit the Student Health Center an unlimited amount of times.

What should you bring when you visit the Student Health Center?

      • Please bring your Flames Pass, a valid driver’s license, and an updated insurance card (only for off-campus locations).
