LU Public Service Notification: URGENT

LU is closed on Monday, December 8, 2025.

VDOT has advised our community to adjust travel plans around the weather and stay off the roads once the storm arrives, as treacherous road conditions are expected to develop.

LU employees should contact their supervisor(s) for information regarding remote work options.

The Reber Thomas Dining Center is open regular hours, and Slim Chickens will open at 11 a.m.

The 75 bus will be running on Monday, December 8, 2025, to take students to the Reber Thomas Dining Center. All other LU Transit bus routes are closed.

Consider the following information:

1. Stay Indoors or Dress in Layers if Going Out

Whenever possible, remain inside to stay warm and safe.

If you need to go outside, dress in layers, including hats, gloves, and waterproof footwear, to protect against the cold.

2. Stick to Main roads if Driving

Avoid back roads that may be less maintained and more dangerous during snow and ice conditions. Stick to main roads and highways that are more likely to be treated.

3. Stay Informed with Trusted Sources

Monitor updates from reliable sources like the National Weather Service (NWS), Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), and Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
