LU Alert: TWN 003- Motorized Scooter Thefts

Motor Vehicle Theft  – (*Note – this includes anything with a motor (i.e. motorized scooters, motorized skateboards, etc.)

This alert is being sent in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Act, as this incident represents a Clery Act crime that occurred on Clery Act geography and poses a serious or continuing threat to the campus community.

The suspect(s) remain unidentified. LUPD are also reminding those on campus to make sure all scooters and vehicles are secure when left unattended.

LUPD would like to remind the campus community that these are opportunistic thefts, and we ask you to please refrain from leaving property unattended and always keep your scooters secured.

Liberty University has partnered with the “See Something, Say Something” campaign to raise awareness on our campus regarding suspicious activity. If you see something that doesn’t seem quite right, say something by contacting 911 or LUPD at (434) 592-3911. By being alert and reporting suspicious activity, you can help protect our community.

If you are in immediate danger, call Liberty University Police Department at 434-592-3911 or call 9-1-1. Criminal incidents can be reported to Liberty University Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) who are designated, trained, and mandatory reporters under the Clery Act when victims chose not to report to law enforcement.

Be sure to lock up your vehicles, residential hall rooms, and offices when you leave. Remove any valuables from sight or take them with you when you leave. Never leave keys or means to access your vehicle within the vehicle.
