Closed – Cleared by Arrest
At least one person involved in the commission of the offense has been identified and arrested.
Closed – Exceptionally Cleared
An element beyond law enforcement control prevents filing of formal charges against an offender. Cases can be exceptionally cleared when all the following conditions can be met: (1) The identify of the offender is known. (2) The location of the offender is known so that the offender could be taken into custody now. (3) Enough information exists to arrest the offender. (4) An outside reason precludes arresting the offender (example; death of offender, denial of extradition, victim declines prosecution, etc.).
Closed – Campus Judicial Referral
Offender was referred for campus judicial action.
Closed – No Prosecution
Law enforcement declined to make an arrest after preliminary or follow-up investigation (officer discretion).
Closed – Unfounded
Law enforcement determined that the reported situation never occurred.
Inactive/Suspended
No solvable factors exist to warrant further investigation after initial report or after investigation, information was insufficient to identify responsible person(s) for arrest or referral.
Transferred to Other Agency
The investigation has been transferred to another Law Enforcement Agency.
Transferred to Commonwealth Attorney
The investigation has been completed and due to the circumstance of the incident, the case has been sent to the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office for an opinion and LUPD is awaiting a response.
Non-Criminal
Incident is not criminal in nature (Unlocks, Escorts, Fire Alarm, etc.).
Closed by Dispatch
Call for service was handled by LUECC personnel and was not assigned to an officer for action of follow-up.
