Despite some weather-related setbacks, Liberty University students will soon be able to enjoy the Barnes & Noble campus bookstore currently under construction on Main Campus.
Charles Spence, Liberty’s director of planning and new construction, said the bookstore should be open for student use on April 18.
“We are in a hard press now to complete the work,” Spence said. “The weather has been bad for our paving and landscaping, and this has also slowed some of the work on the inside, but we are pressing hard to assure that all is ready for the grand opening.”
The new bookstore is located across from Williams Stadium, and is 20,000 square feet — twice the size of the current campus bookstore in the Arthur S. DeMoss Learning Center. The new two-story brick facility will feature a café and outdoor patio area, and will sell textbooks, leisure books and more.
Two other large construction projects are also scheduled for completion by this fall. Liberty’s Snowflex ski slope and ski lodge will be completed sometime this summer, and will provide a year-round surface for skiers and snowboarders. The Thomas Indoor Soccer Complex is scheduled for completion around the end of April. This facility will hold two indoor soccer fields, and will be connected to Campus North.
