TAIT to perform at Homecoming game

The Student Activities Office has announced that Michael Tait, a popular Christian singer and LU alumnus, will perform at this year’s Homecoming on Oct. 25. Tait, along with his band by the same name, will do a 15-minute halftime show and a 45-minute concert after the game.

As a student at Liberty University in the 1980s, Tait met Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max, who formed the chart-topping Christian rock/rap band dcTalk. Before the band went on hiatus in 1999, it sold 7 million albums, including the double platinum album, “Jesus Freak,” and won multiple Grammy and GMA Dove Awards. Tait officially formed his own band in 2000.

Chris Misiano, director of Student Activities, said Tait’s visit will be a highlight of Alumni Weekend.

“His music’s always good. … His sound is appropriate for all. Obviously the fact he’s alumni will add to the atmosphere for the entire weekend.”

This year’s Homecoming, with the theme “Come Home to Liberty,” has been expanded to include a full weekend of activities for alumni, Oct. 23-25. To register and for more details, go to www.lualumni.com.
