Liberty alumna, FOX News anchor hits No. 1 on New York Times’ bestseller list

Shannon Bream

Shannon Bream (’93), current anchor for FOX News Channel’s FOX News @ Night with Shannon Bream made headlines when her recently published book, “The Women of the Bible Speak,” rose to No. 1 on the New York Times’ bestseller list on Thursday, selling over 100,000 copies since releasing March 30.

“This is one of those things that was such a fun labor of love,” Bream said in an interview with FOX. “Because whether you grew up reading the Bible or going to Sunday school or any of that stuff, or you didn’t, these stories are timeless. The women here are powerful and they’re dealing with things that are very 2021.”

In the book, Bream opens up the lives of 16 biblical women from the Old and New Testament, from the shepherdesses of ancient Israel who helped raise the future leaders of the people of God, to the courageous early Christians. She arranges them into pairs and contrasts their journeys through their common struggles to resist bitterness, despair, and pride and find their true selves in faith, hope, and love. Shannon helps readers reflect not only on the meaning of each individual’s life, but on how they relate to each other and to our lives today.

“My favorite thing is a lot of these women made bad decisions, they took the wrong path, but even in that God was able to use their stories for His plans and His purposes,” Bream said.

Bream’s new book has sold over 100,000 copies since releasing on March 30.

Bream graduated from Liberty with a degree in business and earned a Juris Doctorate with honors from Florida State University College of Law. In May 2013, she made Liberty history as the university’s first female keynote Commencement speaker. She remains actively connected to Liberty, regularly meeting with students and alumni interning or working in Washington, D.C., as well as giving students tours at the network’s studio.

Bream joined the FOX network in 2007 as a Washington D.C- based correspondent covering the Supreme Court. In addition to her role as anchor, Bream is a chief legal correspondent for the network and host of Livin’ the Bream, a podcast on FOX News Radio (FNR) where she shares inspirational stories, personal anecdotes, and an insider’s perspective on actions and rulings from the high court.

Most recently, Bream has contributed to the FOX News Channel’s Democracy 2020 election coverage and live coverage on the confirmation hearing of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. Last year, she covered the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, interviewed Dr. Jill Biden on her husband’s decision to run for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination and her son Hunter Biden, as well as covering the impeachment trial surrounding President Donald Trump.

Bream reported live from Capitol Hill on the 2015 Supreme Court decision to rule in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide and covered the 2013 Supreme Court ruling of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California’s Proposition 8, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in 2012, as well as provided extensive live coverage of the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
