On Dec. 7, the Liberty University Athletics Department lost one of its own when Darius Dixon, a freshman sprinter for the track & field program, was tragically killed in a car accident.
Earlier that same week, Dixon competed in his first collegiate event for the Flames, running in the 200-meter and 400-meter dash races in the Liberty Kickoff, held in the Tolsma Indoor Track Center on Dec. 4-5.
“Our hearts are all aching over the tragic loss of this promising life. Darius was a very special young man who was part of a wonderful freshman class,” said Brant Tolsma, Liberty’s head track & field/cross country coach.
