Ashton Perritt (left) and Alex Close were picked Wednesday by the Texas Rangers and Kansas City Royals, respectively.

Two more Liberty University Flames were selected during Wednesday’s final day of the 2015 Major League Baseball (MLB) First Year Player Draft. Liberty outfielder and pitcher Ashton Perritt and first baseman Alex Close, who both graduated in May, were chosen Wednesday afternoon.

The Texas Rangers selected Perritt in the 24th round before Close was chosen in the 26th round by the Kansas City Royals.

On Tuesday’s second day of the three-day draft, the Oakland Athletics picked left-handed pitcher Jared Lyons in the ninth round.

With the selection of three players in the 2015 MLB Draft, Liberty has had 61 players selected in the MLB Draft during the 42-year history of its program and has had a player chosen in each draft since 2000.
