Liberty University’s upcoming Convocations will feature a wide range of speakers, including U.S. legislators and an award-winning musical artist, along with an accomplished comedian.
This Wednesday’s Convocation will feature the lead pastor of Zoe Church in Los Angeles, Calif., Chad Veach, who served as executive producer on the documentary film, “The Heart of Man.” The film features interviews with real people who have overcome their struggles that would keep them from having a relationship with God. Students will have an opportunity to see a private screening of the movie on campus this Thursday.
This Friday, Sept. 22, Congressman Trey Gowdy (SC-4) and U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will cap Constitution Week with a roundtable discussion in Convocation. Gowdy and Scott will share how politics can be a platform to represent Christ and implement Christian values in local and national government. Friday’s Convocation will also feature a special musical performance from Grammy Award winning artist and voice of Third Day, Mac Powell.
Next week kicks off Fall 2017’s Global Focus Week on Monday, Sept. 25. During the week, students will interact with more than 40 representatives from organizations who are serving in various areas around the globe. Global Focus Week will also introduce Liberty’s new global initiative, G5.
Comedian and television host Jeff Foxworthy will help explain what G5 is during his Convocation visit on Wednesday, Sept. 27. Foxworthy and his family have been working with Compassion International for about 12 years. Foxworthy will talk about how students can get involved with the organization.
An upcoming 10-day Convocation schedule is announced each Monday.
