Even in the summer months when residential classes aren’t in session, Liberty University is offering ways for members of the LU family and the general public to engage with its mission of Training Champions for Christ and learn how God continues to bless the university. This June, Liberty is debuting “Convo on the Road,” a series of gatherings in which university leadership, along with the Liberty Worship Collective, will travel to cities in different parts of the country for Convocation-like services with worship and Christ-centered messages.
The events, held in Dallas, Texas, and Raleigh, N.C., this year, are free and open to all members of the Liberty community — alumni, current and prospective students and their families, remote faculty and staff, friends and supporters — as well as those interested in learning about the university for the first time.
“’Convo on the Road’ is an exciting opportunity to bring the heart of Liberty University directly to the heart of communities in our nation,” said Liberty Chancellor Jonathan Falwell. “We are thrilled to gather this summer in Dallas and Raleigh with alumni, students, and friends, both new and old, to worship, share the vision that God has given us, and inspire one another to live faithfully as we continue the mission of Training Champions for Christ.”
Falwell will speak at both events. Registration is required.
“We’re picking up Convo right from the Vines Center and placing it in different cities throughout the country. We are bringing Liberty to them,” said Dr. Greg Tilley, executive director of alumni engagement. “It’s the same production, the Worship Collective is singing, it’s the same high-energy worship service … all of what Convo is like for our students here on campus.”
Those who attend will learn about Liberty’s distinct Christian mission firsthand and how the mission is carried out throughout all of the university’s programs.
“It is an opportunity for the different groups to experience Liberty, to be a part of Liberty, to be reminded that Liberty is still doing what it has always set out to do; we are still biblically based, Christ-centered, and Training Champions for Christ,” Tilley said. “For alumni and online students, it is a chance to learn how to stay involved with Liberty and what’s going on on campus, even if they never even stepped foot on campus themselves.”
