Get ready to Fuel the Fire for Giving Day Sept. 30

The Liberty University community on campus and around the world is poised to join once again in furthering the original mission of Training Champions for Christ during the school’s annual Giving Day. On Wednesday, Sept. 30, family, friends, and alumni will have multiple options to support the area of their choosing, from over 100 campaigns that span academic, athletic, and spiritual programs.

The Giving Day portal is already open and will remain available until 11:59 p.m. on Giving Day. Wherever donors decide to give, 100 percent of the funds go directly to the chosen cause.

During last year’s Giving Day, a total of $7,458,965 was received through 7,113 gifts, surpassing the previous year by almost $1.8 million.

“Giving Day is an opportunity to live generously and make a lasting investment in the next generation of leaders,” said Executive Vice President of Development Brian Mentzer. “Every gift, regardless of size, helps equip students with the resources, mentoring, and Christ-centered education they need to make a meaningful impact in their communities, professions, and around the world. By supporting Giving Day, we are not only meeting today’s needs but also shaping tomorrow’s leaders and extending a legacy of faith, service, and influence for generations to come.”

There will be multiple challenges throughout the day — including sharing fun photos on social media — that can move academic and athletic campaigns up the leaderboard.

The Giving Day Fest for students will return this year to the Academic Lawn, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the Freedom Tower, and feature games, giveaways, tables for student clubs and departments, and a chance to connect with staff from the Office of Development. Students can participate by signing up to become a student ambassador, sharing their ambassador link on social media, and writing a thank-you note to a donor, in exchange for awards like a specially branded phone ring light and a free Comfort Colors Giving Day t-shirt. All attendees can also enter the Virginia Credit Union Giveaway; prizes include Beats headphones, a Bluetooth speaker, a Keurig K-Supreme, and more.

Throughout Giving Day, university figures like Liberty mascot Sparky, Professor of Evangelism Dr. David Wheeler, and coaches will be driving around campus in festive golf carts handing out candy and Giving Day resources.

Registration is still open for Giving Day Ambassadors, who will receive a personal link to spread the word about Giving Day to friends and family while competing to support their favorite school, club, or athletic program. Anyone can be an ambassador, whether an alumnus, current student, faculty, staff, or any other member of the Liberty community with a cause close to their heart. As people donate through the link, ambassadors can unlock prizes such as Liberty apparel, lunch with Convocation guests and VIPs, and accommodations for Flames Football games.
