Liberty Baseball to make ninth appearance at NCAA Regionals this weekend

After posting a 41-19 overall record and finishing runner-up in the 2026 Conference USA Baseball Championship, the Liberty Flames are headed to Athens, Ga., this weekend with an at-large selection for their ninth NCAA Baseball Tournament appearance in program history.
The Flames garnered their first NCAA Regional selection under second-year head coach Bradley LeCroy and their first since being selected to play in the 2022 NCAA Athens, Ga., Regional. The team also advanced to the NCAA Regionals in 1993, 1998, 2000, 2013, 2014, 2019, and 2021.
Liberty, seeded No. 3 in the regional, will face No. seed 2 Boston College (36-21) in their opening road game on Friday at Foley Stadium, the home of regional host Georgia, with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m. Georgia, the national overall No. 3 seed, and Long Island will join the Flames and Eagles in the regional. The regional matchups and seeds were announced on ESPN.
Liberty advanced to its first CUSA Championship title Sunday, falling to No. 1 seed Jacksonville State, and finishing with a 21-9 mark in conference play,
Last week, Liberty shortstop Tanner Marsh was named the CUSA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, with right-hander Ben Blair earning CUSA Pitcher of the Year honors. Outfielder Nick Barone joined the pair as a member of the CUSA First All-Conference teams, with starting pitcher Bradley Zayac and relief pitcher Cooper Harrington earning CUSA All-Conference Second Team recognition.
The Flames are one of seven Liberty teams to post 40 or more wins in a season. The last team to accomplish the feat was the 2021 team, which won 41 games. The 1983 (40), 2010 (43), 2013 (41), 2014 (41) and 2019 (43) teams also won 40 or more games in a season.
Liberty enters the week with the sixth-best road record in the country, currently standing 19-6 on the season.
