Flames Basketball sets new record with 15-game winning streak
February 12, 2026 : By Liberty Athletics
A buzzer beater at New Mexico State’s Pan American Center on Wednesday night lifted the Liberty Flames to a program-record-setting 15th straight victory.
With 1.4 seconds left in regulation, senior guard Colin Porter inbounded the ball to senior forward Zach Cleveland, who hit the game-winning shot as time expired, securing the 77-75 win.
Liberty’s winning streak started on Dec. 16 with a 95-57 victory over Midway at Liberty Arena. The 15-win milestone tops the 2019-20 team, which won 14 straight games to open the 2019-20 season. The Flames’ winning streak currently ranks third in the country.
The Flames (21-3) are also 13-0 in conference play for the first time in program history — and one of three teams in NCAA Division I to remain unbeaten in conference play.
Liberty has won 18 straight games (including postseason play) against CUSA teams, the longest conference winning streak in the country, and is 24-1 in its last 25 games against league opponents dating back to last season.
