Liberty University has been selected as the host site for the 2026 Collegiate Day of Prayer broadcast, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 26, at 8 p.m. EST in the Vines Center. The two-hour event will unite campuses, churches, and ministries in the local community, across the nation, and around the world in prayer for college students.
For over 200 years, the Collegiate Day of Prayer has faithfully assembled Christians and faith leaders for a global, multigenerational day of prayer for revival and awakening on college campuses worldwide. Traditionally held on a university campus, the international event will be live-streamed from Liberty’s campus, arranged in cooperation with churches and ministries in Lynchburg and the surrounding community.
“The Collegiate Day of Prayer reminds us that lasting spiritual change begins with the local church coming together in prayer,” said Liberty Chancellor Jonathan Falwell. “We are honored to host this impactful gathering as churches across Lynchburg and across the nation unite to intercede for the next generation.”
Liberty has taken part in the Collegiate Day of Prayer for the last two years. In February 2025, the event coincided with the university’s regularly scheduled 24-hour prayer event. Students, faculty, and staff gathered in designated prayer spaces and other common rooms to pray for the student population and students around the country.
Next year will be Liberty’s third consecutive year participating and its first as the host site, demonstrating the university’s deep commitment to prayer-driven spiritual renewal.
“It’s a privilege for Liberty University to serve as the host site for this upcoming Collegiate Day of Prayer broadcast,” said Vice President for Spiritual Development Joshua Rutledge. “Prayer has always been at the heart of Liberty’s story, and the revival spirit that has been evident on college campuses around the country the past several years has also been experienced here, but primarily in the form of prayer.”
The Collegiate Day of Prayer organization operates as a coalition of collegiate ministries and church networks and is led by a representative steering team of these partner organizations.
The subject of prayer will be a key theme at Liberty this upcoming spring as the university also makes plans to launch its Global Prayer Room in the new Champion Center. The room, designed solely for prayer and worship, will be open to guests and all members of the Liberty community with an aim to ultimately be operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Through streaming technology, students in the online program and alumni around the world will also be able to join.
