School of Law dean interviewed on ‘Fox News Sunday Night’

Liberty University School of Law Dean Dr. Timothy Todd was a special guest on “Fox News Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy” on May 4, where he provided insights on concerns about a “constitutional crisis,” due process, and the weakening of the legislative branch.

Gowdy, former U.S. representative from South Carolina, welcomed Todd to the show and led a discussion centered around democrats’ fears of a “constitutional crisis” under the Trump Administration.

Todd said the U.S. is not in a constitutional crisis but rather “a crisis of rhetoric and hyperbole.”

“The very public institutions we have, most notably the courts, rely on the public trust and confidence for their legitimacy,” he said. “It’s quite ironic, therefore, that those who are saying we are in a constitutional crisis are quickening the erosion of that public trust and those institutions.”

Gowdy played a clip from President Trump’s NBC interview with journalist Kristen Welker and said recent news pieces are misleading and accuse him of suggesting he wouldn’t uphold the Constitution. Gowdy and Todd discussed the misleading headlines and the importance of procedural due process.

Gowdy and Todd also discussed the legislative branch and how it has become weakened in the modern era.

Todd holds a Ph.D. in Personal Financial Planning from Kansas State University, M.S. in Applied Economics (Financial Economics concentration) from Johns Hopkins University, Juris Doctor from Liberty University School of Law, and an M.S. in Accounting and B.S. in Business from Liberty.

Todd has published extensively, contributing to both academic and professional journals, as well as receiving awards for his work. He is also the author of a recently released book that is part of a well-known and popular law school series.
