The team, sponsored by the LU Serve Now initiative, will partner with Samaritan’s Purse to help homeowners with cleanup and personal property recovery. In addition, team members will minister to the spiritual and emotional needs of those affected.

Last January, approximately 150,000 Los Angeles residents were displaced by the Eaton and Palisades fires that claimed the lives of at least 29 people and destroyed more than 16,000 structures.

Liberty remains dedicated to meeting the needs of those affected by catastrophic disasters. The week immediately preceding the LA trip, a team of Liberty students will work alongside Samaritan’s Purse in rebuild efforts in Lahaina, Hawaii, from the 2023 wildfires. This academic year, Liberty has sent multiple teams to North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia for hurricane relief. Over Liberty’s Spring Break next week, a team will travel to Boone, N.C., to further assist areas devastated by the severe flooding from Hurricane Helene last fall.

Last week, over 1,000 Liberty students packed 272,000 meals for children and families in need in Haiti. The event was sponsored by LU Serve in cooperation with Feed My Starving Children and in partnership with Mission of Hope and World Help.

Liberty has a longstanding reputation for community service, consistently partnering with humanitarian aid organizations during times of need. The LU Serve Now initiative provides multiple opportunities for students to respond to natural disasters alongside partner organizations that embrace and support Liberty’s mission and purpose. Students interested in participating are encouraged to apply online.

The ongoing success of LU Serve Now is largely due to the contributions of generous donors. Visit the Serve Now portal to support future trips.
