Celebrations underway for Liberty University’s 48th Commencement

Williams Stadium and the Academic Lawn are serving as venues for Liberty University’s 48th Commencement this week, with 25 degree presentation ceremonies taking place from Tuesday through Saturday.

President Jerry Prevo has attended and will continue to attend each ceremony to encourage graduates with a Gospel message as they enter a new chapter of life. A video featuring the words of Liberty founder Dr. Jerry Falwell is being shown as graduates are sent forth from Liberty Mountain as Champions for Christ, fulfilling his vision.

Over 5,600 residential and online graduates from the Classes of 2021 and 2020 were expected to celebrate on campus this week, with close to 37,000 guest tickets ordered. More than 10,000 graduates have registered to participate virtually, with the chance for individual recognition.

In all, Liberty is celebrating 28,351 residential and online students from the Class of 2021 as well as welcoming back students from the Class of 2020.

Tuesday’s ceremonies included the School of Communication and the Arts, the School of Nursing, and the School of Health Sciences. Wednesday’s celebrations brought in graduates from the Rawlings School of Divinity, the School of Engineering, and the Helms School of Government. View the full schedule and stream all events on the Commencement website.

The week will be capped by a virtual Commencement ceremony at 7 p.m. EST Saturday featuring Tim Tebow as the keynote speaker.
