Liberty announces Fulbright semifinalists, record number of faculty honored

Six students and four faculty from Liberty University were recently announced as semifinalists for the 2021-22 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program and the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, both of which provide grants for students and faculty to study and conduct research abroad. While Liberty has a strong reputation of helping students apply for and secure grants to study their respective vocations internationally, this year’s cycle has brought in a record number of faculty semifinalists.

Liberty’s faculty semifinalists are: Dr. Michael Jones, professor of interdisciplinary studies, to teach in Romania; Dr. Andrew Milacci, associate professor of Spanish, to research and teach in Brazil; Dr. Jaeshil Kim, associate professor of modern languages, to teach remote learning in Vietnam; and Laura Jones, professor of interdisciplinary studies, to teach in Romania.

Five of Liberty’s six student semifinalists applied to teach English internationally — one in Hungary (Joseph Anguiano, Master of Arts in Education), two in Mexico (Evy Beach, modern languages, and Eva Frank, music), and one in both Indonesia (Brielle Marlow, modern languages) and Cambodia (Perry MacKenzy, modern languages). History and international relations student Grace Lamont applied for a research/study grant to Belgium.
