Chancellor celebrates 50th birthday

Liberty University Chancellor Jerry Falwell, Jr. marked another milestone on Friday afternoon, as he celebrated his 50th birthday with family, friends, and Liberty administrators on the Club Level of the Williams Stadium tower.

Falwell was named chancellor and president in May 2007 after the passing of his father, Liberty founder Jerry Falwell, Sr. Five years later, Liberty is racing toward the fulfillment of his father’s vision.

“It’s a great day, I’m very proud of him and all that has been accomplished,” said Falwell, Jr.’s wife, Becki. “I’m sure his dad is proud of everything that has happened, and is thrilled with seeing his vision come alive.”

She said the party took about a week to plan with the help of Mark Creasey from the Special Projects department as well as the Chancellor’s Office.

Falwell, Jr. turns 50 on Sunday, June 17 – Father’s Day. It was also Father’s Day on the day he was born.
