When I think about the role of the LU Shepherd here at Liberty, I think about Angie Grafman. That’s because Angie represents so well everything that makes up that position. She is humble. She is full of wisdom and life experience. She is kind. But above all, she is passionate about the students she is called to serve and love. There are a hundred and one things Angie could be doing in this season of her life other than waking up and pouring herself out into the next generation, but the fact that she chooses to do the latter is evidence of why she’s such a gift. She consistently goes above and beyond in her, approaching each task with precision, care, and a student-centered mindset. Whether she’s navigating complex verification processes or offering thoughtful guidance through professional judgment, her attention to detail and proactive communication makes a meaningful difference in the student experience. Allie brings a collaborative spirit to the team!

Caroline Stevens serves as a Contract Administrator I and has been a valued member of the Procurement-Contracts team for just over two years. She provides dedicated support to several departments across campus, including—but not limited to—Planning & Construction, Facilities Management, and Real Estate. She consistently goes above and beyond in every task she undertakes, demonstrating exceptional attention to detail, initiative, and a strong commitment to the success of the team. Whether she’s leading complex projects or offering support with a collaborative mindset, Caroline exemplifies professionalism and excellence in all aspects of her work. Her contributions have had a significant and positive impact on our team.

Jessie has been a key part of the Marketing photography team, creating high-quality images that strengthen our brand. She dives into every project with energy, making sure each moment is captured just right. Her positive vibe lifts the team, and she’s great to work with. Jessie’s consistent, strong work ethic goes above and beyond, making her a vital part of our group. Congrats, Jessie, on this well-deserved recognition!

Brenda has worked for Liberty University for 7 years, serving as an Undergraduate Transfer Evaluator in the Registrar’s Office. In her role, Brenda enjoys learning new skills and is willing to step in and lend a helping hand, however she can, to her fellow team members. She is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoys spending time with her family. Transfer Evaluations benefits tremendously from her kind heart and positive attitude. She stands out in the best possible way!

Angie has been a dedicated member of the Liberty family for over 13 years. She brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and heart to her role every day. Beyond the workplace, Angie and her husband, Sylvester, have shared 41 wonderful years together and are proud parents of two sons and five cherished grandchildren. Angie exemplifies excellence through her commitment, integrity, and positive spirit. Whether supporting her team or taking on new challenges, she consistently goes above and beyond to make a meaningful impact.

Dee Smith, Director of Maintenance, has been recognized as Employee of the Month for her outstanding multitasking and dedication. Over the past month, Dee has efficiently organized the summer maintenance schedule, addressed maintenance requests from moving students, and ensured all commencement-related tasks were completed on time. Her exceptional ability to handle multiple critical tasks has been crucial to maintaining the smooth operation of our facilities during this busy period. Ellen “Ellie” Lucas has been with Liberty Transit since January 2022 and is a true asset to our department. She brings a joyful attitude to work each day and willingly covers all shifts, routes, shuttles, and On-Demand Rides. Ellie encourages those around her with kindness and openly shares her faith, serving as a positive example to our transit family.
