ISC To Host Spicy Cook-Off Event November 22

Liberty University’s International Student Center will host the Too Hot to Handle, Spicy Cook-Off in the DeMoss Hall Grand Lobby from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22.

This free event is open to anyone from the Liberty community interested in sampling spicy food from around the globe.

International students from a variety of countries will be sharing spicy food at the cook-off in hopes of showcasing their country’s biggest stand-out dishes. Some of the countries bringing the heat to this year’s event include Nigeria, The Bahamas, India, the United States and South Korea.

Everyone who attends the event will be able to cast their vote for the country they believe cooked the spiciest dish.

The event will be set up like a miniature version of Liberty’s annual Taste of Nations event. The cook-off will feature tables loaded with spicy samples from each participating country. This event is not only a great chance to enjoy flavorful food, but to connect with students from around the world.

“You can’t find a better opportunity than food to ignite conversation,” said Melissa Harris, the communications and branding director from LU One.

The goal of this event is to provide students with delicious food and a space to connect with different cultures.

“Anybody who loves spicy foods should come,” Harris said.

The cook-off will be held at the end of International Education Week, but it isn’t the only event taking place to celebrate this special occasion. For more information about this event and others hosted by the International Student Center, visit their Instagram
