Israel-Hamas War Continues To Intensify

The Israel-Hamas War continues to intensify after Hezbollah sent more than 100 missiles towards northern Israel Sept. 22 in retaliation for Israel’s recent attack on Beirut, Lebanon, according to the Associated Press.

According to a report by FOX News, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Naim Kassem said Israel is now in an “open-ended battle” with the Islamist-militant group, and the recent airstrikes signaled the start of the conflict.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that the missiles launched by Hezbollah appeared to be directed “towards civilian areas,” according to The Guardian. In a post on X, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that about 60,000 people in Israel fled their homes because of the incoming missile attacks.

All schools in the northern district of Israel were closed by the Ministry of Education due to the danger posed by the volley of missiles, according to The Times of Israel. Students from the closed schools are expected to attend their classes online, and some of the school closure areas include Haifa, the Golan, the Galilee and the Jordan Valley, according to The Times of Israel. The Israeli Education Ministry and the Home Front Command of the IDF plan on updating the public about the educational situation Sept. 23.

The Israel Ministry of Health recommended that northern hospitals such as Rambam Hospital, in Haifa, evacuate and move their patients and resources to a safer site that is outside of the missiles’ reach, according to The Guardian. The Magen David Adom, the Israeli emergency medical organization, has attended to four individuals who suffered injuries from metal debris at the explosion sites so far, according to The Guardian.

“The Hezbollah terrorist organization has been continuously launching attacks on Israeli civilians and has no plans to stop,” IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a video posted on X on Sept. 23.

Hagari said citizens of Israel must prioritize their wellbeing by seeking safety and avoiding any situations that might put them at risk due to attacks from Hezbollah’s army.
