The Reindeer Run will be the third race of the Liberty Mountain Trail Series
Looking for a festive way to exercise? Liberty University’s Campus Recreation team is presenting its annual trail-running event: the Reindeer Run happening Dec. 2.
The Reindeer Run event will offer students the opportunity to exercise in a fun and festive way, as well as fellowship with other runners at the event. Attendees are allowed and encouraged to display their holiday spirit by dressing up for the race.
As the third race this semester, the Reindeer Run will continue the Liberty Mountain Trail Series. According to Campus Recreation’s website, the race will follow a track on forest roads and trails and will both start and finish at the Hydaway Outdoor Center. Spanning 2 miles in total, the race will follow an out-and-back format of 1 mile each way.
Campus Recreation designed the event to be a family fun run and geared it toward people of all ages interested in participating in the 2-mile trail run. It is open to both Liberty students and the public, and registration is open now.
Liberty students, faculty and staff have a discounted rate of $15 if they register in advance and $25 for day-of registration. Registration is also open to the public at a rate of $25 for advance registration and $35 for day-of registration. This registration will supply attendees with an info packet for the race, as well as a special Reindeer Run race shirt and numbered bib for runners to wear during the event. Pickup for attendee information packets will be held Dec. 1 at the LaHaye Rotunda from 12-6 p.m. Runners who register before Nov. 23 will receive a free shirt.
The race will begin at 9 a.m. Dec. 2 at the Hydaway Outdoor Center, and after the race finishes, runners are encouraged to stay and socialize to share festive cookies, cocoa and other holiday treats.
