Champion’s Choice: Our Picks for Liberty’s Last Two Regular Season Games

Following the defeat to Ole Miss, the Flames have two final regular season games, both at home. Unfortunately, attendance may be below average due to both games taking place during Liberty’s Thanksgiving break. So, how will the Flames fare against Louisiana-LaFayette and Army?
Luke Randle (8-2)
It’s unfortunate that Liberty will not have a full stadium of students for its final two games, but I think it will not matter too much as the Flames still succeeded last year when fans were not allowed in. While the Ragin’ Cajuns are ranked, the Flames have benefitted from some much-needed rest. This will be a huge test for the Flames; however, I believe this is the biggest game the team could win this year, and I think they will just pull it out.
Liberty 28, Louisiana 21
Army, on the other hand, will be different. I do not think the Flames have the offensive and defensive lines to beat Army. The team’s lines have been suspect all season. A long and a triple-option unit like Army will gradually wear us down.
Army 28, Liberty 20
Christian Shields (8-2)
Coming out of their bye week, the Flames will face some tough competition in Louisiana. The Ragin’ Cajuns have only lost one game on the season with that loss coming early this season against Texas. I expect Liberty to struggle on defense and special teams and, despite a strong showing by the Flames’ offense, fall to Louisiana at home.
Louisiana 35, Liberty 31
After losing a tough game to Louisiana, Malik Willis and company will rebound against Army. Expect Willis to have a career game in what may be his last regular season game as a Liberty Flame. Liberty wins in a shootout.
Liberty 38, Army 31
Jarrett Harper (8-2)
The Louisiana defense has been pretty solid this season, and its ability to get to Malik Willis will be key in this game. I feel like I mention it every week, but the O-line and Malik’s tendency to hold on to the ball do not give me confidence in Liberty.
Louisiana 28, Liberty 21
With a lack of fans in the stands, Army will defeat Liberty. Army’s rushing attack will be a pain in Liberty’s side all game.
Army 35, Liberty 28
Zac Zehnder (8-2)
The Louisiana defense has been strong this season, but I feel Liberty and Malik Willis are playing for something more. The Flames are now going to be preparing for a new conference, and Willis is playing some of his last college ball. The only reason I do not expect the Flames to dominate is because of the Flames’ defense. This is a close one for Liberty to win.
Liberty 35, Louisiana 21
This is probably the toughest call of the season because of a low amount of knowledge about how these two teams will mix. I think Liberty’s high-powered offense is going to hurt Army in the long run, and the Flames will win.
Liberty 24, Army 14.
Joshua Lipowski (8-2)
I think this could be one of — if not the best — GO5 college football game this week. Louisiana looks like a team that could lose at any moment, and I think Liberty gets a boost from the bye and an admirable effort against Ole Miss.
Liberty 34, Louisiana 31
This game is easily the toughest game to predict solely because I am not sure how the Flames’ defense will play against the famous Army triple option. That being said, this is sure to be one of the most unique games Williams Stadium has seen and is something that everyone has been looking forward to. Army’s defense fell apart against Wake Forest’s explosive offense, and I am going to guess the Flames will do the same.
Liberty 31, Army 27
Cameron Satterthwaite II (8-2)
Coming off an upsetting loss against Ole Miss last week, the Flames will have another tough matchup this week as they face another nationally ranked team. Both teams have gifted quarterbacks, which will likely cause a close game. However, Liberty will not want its 15-home game winning streak to end, and its home crowd will probably help the Flames edge out Louisiana-Lafayette.
Liberty 28, Louisiana 25
Both teams are similar in skillset and are neck and neck in their conference. The Flames’ gifted quarterback should help put Liberty over the Black Knights and continue its impressive winning streak at home.
